I am going to divide this into part 1 and 2, as most of you know there is nothing short about a wedding!
We had a lot of locations to consider for a wedding and even though Florida would have been great, we wanted our families to be a part of it too and that may have not happened if we had it down south. The date was easy, we didn't want a long engagement and the next summer was too far away so the next best teacher vacation was over the Christmas holidays. We decided there was no better way to start the new year...December 31st it was! (Plus it gave us some time to prepare between the long drive up north and all of the family Christmases!)
That summer we looked around the area where Aaron grew up in Ohio, finding a church and reception site was pretty easy. It only made it better that no one really wants to visit Ohio in the middle of the winter so not only did they have our dates, the prices were also discounted which was an added bonus on a tight budget!
By November, I had delegated many wedding duties. I know it is shocking to some of you who know how much I love to be in control, especially with all those small details! It had to be done, I just had started my masters and was going to school full time while planing a wedding out of state. My aunt and cousins agreed to be on decoration duty while my sister in law and her mom did the flowers. Aaron's dad and step mom helped find a place to have the rehearsal dinner and his mom took care of the cake. It was definitely a team effort and I could never imagine doing it any other way looking back!
I haven't mentioned how awesome it was to have some of our closest Florida friends coming up to be a part of the wedding and share our special day, after all they were an important part of our story and they saw where it all began! They traveled from sunshine to what we hoped would be snow...I think we got married during the warmest December in ages and unfortunately all they were going to get was rain!
